Before that, there will be the exercise of updating of the National Voters register for the District between 24-28 July, 2023.
“The update (of the voter’s register) will be conducted at the update stations in each of the 55 parishes and wards in Hoima District,” the EC said in the Hoima by-election electoral roadmap.
The EC noted further that the display of the National Voter’s register would then take place for a period of 10 days from August 09-18th, 2023 at all the 173 polling stations in the District.
August 30 and 31st were set for candidate nominations, which will take pace at the District Returning Office in Hoima.
Following that, the nominated candidates will proceed to campaign for a period of 12 days from September 1 to 12th.
Then, the election will head to the polls on September 14th with subsequent tallying of results which shall take place at the respective 173 polling stations in the District.
The Hoima District Chairperson seat became vacant after the untimely death of Late Kadiri Kirungi in a road traffic accident on March 17th in Mitaagi village, Bukomero Town Council, Kiboga District along the Kampala-Hoima highway.
However, polling for the Sub County Male Councilor representing Older Person’s for Kabaale Sub County will take place on September 8th, 2023 by the electoral college.
The EC roadmap revealed that the District Chairperson By-election will happen alongside that of Sub County Councilors of Katereiga Parish, Buhanika Sub County and the Sub County Male Councilor representing Older Person’s for Kabaale Sub County, Hoima District.
The Sub County Male Councilor representing Older Person’s for Kabaale Sub County also occurred following the death of the previous official while the two sub-county councilors simply resigned from their positions.
